LOVE
Between 2000 and 2012, I was a part of several original bands. In Mood Cultivation Project, I played guitar and a little mandolin. Including hundreds of shows, we opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker Band, Drive By Truckers and other national bands. MCP's 2004 studio album, In This Space and Time is now available digitally. The band also started playing shows again on occasion.
In an acoustic project, Plowed, I played mandolin and opened for Ralph Stanley. Another project, Crooked Roadshow played the side stage with the Allman Brothers. In Thacker Dairy Road, I played bass opening for Darius Rucker and Jason Michael Carroll. I played six-string banjo Porch Dog Revival, playing on an episode of PBS's Song of the Mountains in addition to opening for artists like Steep Canyon Rangers and Larry Keel. Thacker Dairy Road and Porch Dog Revival also have albums available, digitally.
By 2012, I decided to perform solo. I started to learn to sing and write songs alone. I still love to work with others, but wanted to be able to be self-sufficient. In 2014, I released my first solo album, available digitally, and am working on the next one. I plan to release at least a couple of singles in 2024.
In 2013, I also started MAUI - Mount Airy Ukulele Invasion. It is a quarterly ukulele group class that finishes off with a concert. In August of 2022, we recorded a live album of originals I have written in one take. The album is called It's Gonna Take Love and was released digitally in October, 2023.
Also in 2013, I started tuning pianos, professionally.
In 2016 I scored the music for the film, The Real Mayberry.
I also continue to have the honor to fill in with some of the best musicians in the area on several different instruments in different genres. I am happy to feel loved in a world surrounded in music.
